New Materialities
New Materialities pairs contemporary new-media artists with craft and industry partners, expanding digital practices into textiles, ceramics, metal, and site-specific architectural forms.
Inspired by LACMA’s late-1960s Art & Technology program, the exhibition activates a model of artist–industry collaboration—updated for a moment in which computational practice and AI, as forms of synthetic creative collaboration, are actively reshaping both theory and practice.
The works previewed in Venice signal a broader shift from screen-based outputs toward embodied, physical forms—marking an early moment in which a new intelligence begins to take form in the world.
